Mbeya and Sumbawanga

Grace Community Development and Education (GCDE) provides business training, business-to-business mentoring, and affordable credit to small and medium businesses in the agricultural and manufacturing sectors of two Tanzanian cities, Sumbawanga and Mbeya. In order to strengthen locally-owned businesses, GCDE offers training sessions in both English and Swahili, that cover topics including business plans, marketing, sales, recordkeeping, breakeven analysis, and ethics from a Christian perspective. Since 2009, North American partners have walked alongside over 50 business members of GCDE. Learn more at www.gcde.org.

“I now understand God’s desire to use me and my business for His purpose,” says Daniel Mulungu, a husband, father, and entrepreneur in the heart of Mbeya, Tanzania.

After experiencing the devastating loss of a child and the resulting closure of his business in 2007, Daniel returned to Mbeya in 2008 with no home, no business, and very little in assets.  Starting with $300, he began buying ingredients to mix animal feed and sell it to local residents who raise chickens, pigs and cows.  Today, he employs three others in Mulungu Animal Feed, his successful small business that continues to grow.
