As we reflect on the last three months and what our region is going through, we can’t help but feel a sense of brokenness and sadness. Yet amidst all these, instead of breaking down, we fall on our knees, we take a moment to pause, pray, and praise the Lord because we know He is faithful!
Comforting As We Have Been Comforted
Strict lockdown has been declared in many cities and provinces in Indonesia including the capital city, Jakarta, where PW staff and partner LCIs are based. Daily COVID-19 cases spiked to more than fifty thousand people per day. Hospitals are at full capacity, movements are restricted, businesses are shut down, and people are grieving their loss. How do we serve during such discouraging times? We show up, stay connected, and comfort others with our presence. We do not always have the right words or a ready solution to their problems. But together, we lift our praises and prayers to the Lord – and God who is our merciful Father, the source of all comfort, comforts us. And He allows us to comfort others
(2 Corinthians 1:3-4).
Serving Without Borders
Myanmar is not only suffering from the surge of COVID-19 infections but is also reeling from fighting and skirmishes between the revolutionary forces and the military that overthrew the democratically elected government early this year. A Business Affiliate (BA) member shared a newsletter with a headline: Everyone Is Dying: Myanmar On The Brink Of Decimation. How do we respond to such a heartbreaking statement? We serve without borders. The BA team have gone above and beyond in raising funds to continually provide support to our brothers and sisters in Myanmar. But more than the financial support they are extending, it is their prayers and their presence that have mean so much to our partners in Myanmar. In one of the bi-monthly zoom meetings with the LCI, Pastor Jeremy expressed his gratitude towards the BA team and PW. The support they are receiving are helping not just people in his congregation but other civilians who are fighting for peace in the country.
Worshipping Together As A Community
The situation in the Philippines seem to be even more out of control than when the pandemic started a year ago. Still, we see God’s hand and we trust His heart as we continue to extend ourselves to our partners, and they extend themselves to the lost, the last, and the least. Monthly, our partner Katuwang Resource Center Inc, gathers as an organization to "worship the Lord in the beauty of his holiness." It is a time where they celebrate God’s faithfulness, rest in His presence, and experience times of refreshing!
Welcoming New Volunteers
Last June, we are grateful to formally welcome three new BA, Bro. Erick Veneracion (Team Leader), Bro. Ed Rivera, and Sis. Precious Allego. They will be supporting our partner, Samaritana Transformation Ministries, Inc. We praise God as one of the BA members, Bro. Ed Rivera, have begun mentoring one of the women leaders in Samaritana, Sis. Noemi, in-charge of developing marketing strategies for Samaritana’s different handmade products.
Moving Forward In God’s Confidence
We know that in all these, God is in control! So, we move forward in His confidence – taking our position and watching God’s victory. We are always grateful for your support, encouragement, and prayer!
