We’re excited to announce that our global network is expanding—into the Dominican Republic! So far, we have formed two partnerships in the DR: ASPIRE and ICM.
Based in Santo Domingo, ASPIRE serves over 3,000 women through savings groups—2,000 of whom already have microbusinesses. PW is collaborating with ASPIRE to equip these women with business training and help unlock their full potential.
Carmen Morris of New Jersey came on as leader for APSIRE’s Business Affiliate (BA) team. “I got the opportunity to see how ASPIRE reaches into communities and equips women with practical financial skills that allow them to grow and move forward confidently. This alone inspired me and made me want to join their initiative.”
Situated in a northern Santiago, Iglesia Communidad Multicultural (ICM) serves rural Haitians and Dominicans who became entrepreneurs to get by.
When pastor Stanley discovered that one of his congregants planned to borrow from a loan shark, he and a group of church leaders put their money together and invested in her. Helping this entrepreneur avoid a spiral of debt and grow a thriving business was something Stanley wanted to replicate—to support the business owners in his community.
In partnership with ICM, we can equip entrepreneurs with the business training they need to market their goods, calculate revenue, and take their businesses to the next level.
