Spring 2019: Nicaragua Update

PW is currently working with five local partners in Nicaragua.

One of our partners, AECNIC, has been focusing on providing business training to Christian owners of small businesses. These trainings have not only provided the entrepreneurs with business knowledge, but also have brought them together to connect as emerging leaders who are seeking to operate their businesses in a conscious way that benefits their employees and their communities.

Our newest partner, ITN, will soon begin providing business training to their members who are micro and small business owners in urban areas. We’re excited to see what we can accomplish together!

ACJ, the local branch of the YMCA in Nicaragua, has begun plans to start a cacao business. It will be both an income generator for ACJ and an opportunity to impact rural, cacao producing communities in Nicaragua. The business will allow producers to gain access to markets and earn a better price for their cacao.

In partnership with AMC, we’re working to improve farmer’s access to value chains. We’re currently working on getting their products, mostly vegetables and fruits, to the market. We’re also helping them negotiate to earn better prices and increase their volumes of production.

Our fifth partner in Nicaragua, PAC, has been working to help their farmers remain resilient and in business. We recently provided PAC with a loan so the farmers in their network can begin producing and exporting high-quality coffee to the Netherlands. We’re working with PAC to set up more international contracts like this.

Please pray for Nicaragua and our work and partners there!
