Pivot and Grow: Juliana’s Business Story

Juliana wants to own the best salon in her community

A wife and mother of four, Juliana launched her business 12 years agoBecause of her location and distance from local banks, she faced challenges saving and managing other financial needs. She had one shop with an employee, but found it difficult to scale her services or grow her business. She sold hair attachments and extensions in addition to her salon services, but could only purchase them in small quantities because of her inadequate capital.

In 2019, Juliana opened an account with Light Microfinance Bank, one of our local community institutions in Nigeria. They came alongside her to help assess her areas of need and create a plan to move forward. This was life changing for her and her businessBecause of loans from LMFB and the continued support of the PW network, she diversified her sales model, opened a second shop, hired four more employees, and was able to purchase a plot of land.

She hopes to soon become a homeowner, and is well on her way to fulfilling her dream!
